Private Lessons

My fiddle instruction method uses material from a variety of fiddle styles (New England, Celtic, French Canadian, old time, and a little bluegrass) to teach students how to get a strong, clean, rhythmically interesting sound from their instruments while having a lot of fun.

Students learn both by ear and by reading music, and practice CDs are provided along with written material.

Many of my teaching materials are compiled in the book “ Learn to Fiddle”. The book comes with three compact discs containing fiddle tunes played both slowly and up to speed. The book acts as a great starting point, but lessons are also customized to the individual student’s interests.

Beginners are very welcome, both adults and kids (age nine and up), as well as classical players looking to branch into traditional music styles.

Private lessons are 45 minutes long, and are offered weekly or bi-monthly. $45 a month for two lessons a month, $90 a month for four lessons a month..
Semi-private lessons are 60 minutes long, and are offered weekly or bi-monthly. $30 a session.

Lessons are available in Johnson City, NY on Mondays and Tuesdays. Lessons are available in Owego, N.Y. on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Please call 607-687-3675 for more information and current openings.
